HORSE CARE

It is hard to get away if you have horses on your own property.  Horses require daily care and I understand how hard it is to find someone you can really trust to care for your horses when you are away from the farm.

What if your horse has an injury that requires cold hosing 2-3 times a day, poultice, bute, etc. and you have a full time job which will not allow you to take care of your horse?

I have over 35 years of experience caring for horses.  I spent 2 years at Lake Erie College in Ohio working toward a teacher/trainer and stable management degree, completing my B.S degree in Marketing from DePaul University in Chicago.  In addition to that, I received my Equine Management Certificate from WCTC in 2007.  I currently own 2 horses and I taught riding lessons in basic dressage and beginner jumping for several years.  I have barn management experience as well as feeding/turning out/cleaning stalls experience at a large boarding facility.  My horses are currently on my own property, so I am used to daily care of my horses. I am capable of recognizing the signs of colic, lameness, and abnormal behavior in horses.  I know how to wrap horses legs properly and how to care for basic cuts and wounds, but also recognize when it is necessary to call a vet.   I am very familiar with cleaning stalls, lugging water buckets, cold hosing legs and giving kisses and carrots to sweet horses :)  I strongly believe that caring for horses requires continuing education.  I am always learning more about horses and will continue to educate myself.

I encourage you to call me and meet with me to discuss your equine needs as well as any questions or concerns you might have regarding the care of your horse.  Don't wait for an emergency - keep Paws To Fins on file so you are prepared and can have peace of mind in the event you need extra or unexpected care for your horse.
